Pastoral Care and Eucharistic Visitors

Jesus’ commandment to love one another is at the heart of the pastoral care ministry at St. John’s. It is our mission to share Christ’s love with those who are not able to worship with us because of illness or infirmity.

As the body of Christ members of St. John’s seek ways to reach out to one other as we navigate the waters of life in the 21st century. In times of joy as well as in times of illness, sorrow, and grief, members pray for one another, take time for visits at homes, residential care facilities, sometimes bringing meals following surgery or in others times of need. Pastoral care encompasses all of our life together as we grow together as the family of St. John’s.

With the participation of many members in this ministry, our parish family continues to grow in love and concern for one another.

Prayer is an important aspect of the Pastoral Ministry. At St. John’s there are many avenues in which one may communicate their prayer concerns. The Daughters of the King maintains a prayer chain which can be accessed on the web or by filling out a blue card in the pew.

The Church also maintains a prayer chain. These names are read at each celebration of the Eucharist on Sunday.

Each Wednesday morning at 7:00 we celebrate the Holy Eucharist in the Chapel at which time prayers are offered.

Each Thursday at 12:10 p.m. in the Chapel we offer the Holy Eucharist with laying on of hands for healing.

Eucharistic Visitors make regular visits to parishioners who reside in homes, residential care facilities, or may be in the hospital during illness or following surgery. Please contact Rev. June Johnson, Assistant Priest, at (360) 269-1052 or the church office at 352-8527 to arrange for a Eucharistic Visitor to bring communion.

If you wish a pastoral visit from the clergy, please contact Rev. June Johnson or the church office. You will be contacted and a time will be scheduled.

Eucharistic Visitors Ministry

Eucharistic Visitors share in the pastoral ministry of the church and provide a vital link between the church community and the person to whom communion is brought.  Each week communion may be taken to several parishioners who rely on this ministry to bring Eucharist and the love of the community to them at their place of residence which may be a private home, residential care facility or the hospital. Those who are involved in this ministry provide a conduit between the church family and the person to whom it is brought.

If you know of someone who would like communion brought to them, please contact the church office at 352-8527 or Mother June Johnson at (360) 269-1052 and one of our Eucharistic Visitors will be scheduled to make a visit.
